Position Description

Dorner Mfg. Corp. is looking for a Manager, Continuous Improvement who shares our commitment to our customers, partners and business.  This highly visible position will lead & coordinate Lean initiatives across all facets of the company utilizing Lean/TPS/TOC principles and practices. Position will facilitate the design & development of manufacturing processes, layout and equipment requirements in order to maximize efficiency of operations and the quality of output. Will frequently organize, train & facilitate cross-functional Kaizen teams.  This position is a brand new position at Dorner!

Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business, or equivalent discipline.  A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, preferable in equipment machining and/or assembly and a minimum of three (3) years prior experience driving continuous improvement in both manufacturing and business processes.  A few of the exciting responsibilities in this new position will include some of the following:

  • Champion lead-time reductions, process simplification, and cost productivity projects
  • Lead hands on lean transformations including: design for flow, current and future state value stream mapping, 3P, 5S, and visual management in manufacturing and assembly environments,
  • Develop critical business cases to support footprint evaluations and capital investments
  • Establish/maintain metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established goals and targets 
  • Train and mentor others on Lean principles, and develop and implement company-wide training programs, advise and teach advanced problem-solving skills 
  • Lead critical Kaizen events
  • Work effectively in a global organization, with international contacts and a multitude of different products and markets, frequent interaction with senior leadership team on regular basis
