| This Adaptable Conveyor Series Proves Its Value Again
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) needed equipment that would help the agency conduct its annual survey of scallops along the East Coast. To quickly and accurately count and measure the scallops, Dorner modified its 2200 Series conveyor to meet NOAA’s application needs.
NOAA’s Unique Criteria
The belt needed to accommodate three species simultaneously and deal with their different sizes, thicknesses and weights. It had to be resistant to the corrosive salt water and the seaweed and debris the scallops brought to the belt. And the belt had to accommodate an electroluminescent backlight for the photography equipment used for measuring. |

| Dorner Engineers Transform the 2200 Series
Stainless steel idler rollers resist the corrosive effects of the salt water, a translucent belt enables examination of both sides of the scallops, and a specially designed aluminum structure (how is it designed?) positions a camera above the scallops passing below. The images are automatically downloaded to a computer, algorithms correct the measuring data for those scallops not located on the center of the belt, and the height and weight of the scallops are determined by their diameter.
In all, the 2200 Series conveyor was adapted to create an efficient, accurate and affordable way for NOAA to conduct their annual scallop survey. |

| New CIP (Clean-In-Place) Units
To maintain sanitation in hard-to-access areas, Dorner’s new clean-in-place (CIP) units are ideal. They feature an automated washing system that not only reduces the labor required to keep your conveyors clean, but they help you save water and energy as well.
|
|
|
| Interior & Exterior Spray Nozzles
The new design features spray nozzles on the interior and exterior of the conveyor, and you are now able to clean both the top and bottom surfaces of the belt simultaneously. And for modular belts, the CIP unit forces water through the open hinges.
The unit is fully welded for unparalleled quality and reliability, and it is constructed of round tubes to eliminate all unnecessary horizontal surfaces.
You can now add a new CIP unit to any Dorner 7400 or 7600 AquaPruf Conveyor. |
